Simple Christmas Card Topper – Parcel
Basic Equipment Needed
Cutting Matt Craft knife
Metal ruler Scoring board/ boning tool
Scissors Paper trimmer
Silicone glue Pencil
Double-sided tape .5cm /foam pads
Materials
Blue hand made paper Traditional Christmas papers
Blue Tartan backing paper
Silver, gold, green and cream card Narrow ribbon pale blue, red and gold
Gold and silver peel offs – borders, stars and sentiments.
These are very easy to make and shouldn’t take very long and the possibilities are endless. Different papers, the size of the parcel it is just up to your imagination.
Step one
Cut a square 3.5cm x 3.5cm from the hand made paper and another 4cm x 1.5 cm from the silver card.

Step Two
Place the lid of the parcel so that it’s just over lapping the base using double- sided tape
Step three
Cut out a piece of blue ribbon to cover the front and round the back. Then simply place over your parcel.
Tip: I cut double-sided tape into thin strips that will fit on the ribbon and stick in place before I put it onto the parcel or card. (If you find this too fiddly then place the ribbon round the card and stick down on the back firmly with the tape and leave the backing on)
Step four
Make a bow and place on the top of the parcel.

Step five
Make a backing for your parcel by simply cutting a piece of card slightly bigger than the lid and base.
Depending on the size of your parcel you may feel that you don’t need a backing. The choice is yours.
Decorate the parcel by placing small silver stars randomly over the base. You can often find these on the greeting peel offs.

Step six
Place a double-sided foam pad on the back

Your topper is now ready to put on your card. I have made a few for you to see some with Christmas papers. The possibilities as I have said before are endless.

To make card A
I used an A5 card in blue to match parcel, turned it to landscape so fold is at the top

Cut a piece of cream card the same as the backing for the parcel 10cm x 7cm and then a piece of blue tartan backing paper 9.5cm x 6.5cm and attached them to the left-hand side of the card.

To decorate I chose a corner silver star peel offs, holly and silver greeting placed on the same colour card as the parcel and cut around the edge; attach to the card on the right-hand side with foam pads. To finish off simply place the topper just above the lower edging and with love sentiment above.

If you wanted you could add a persons name to make it more personnel again with peel offs. There are just so many to choose from its great.
To make card B
I used cream A5 card and Christmas traditional papers (brought at any craft shops)

I made a bigger parcel from the christmas paper and placed a red ribbon and a brought bow (from local craft shop) around it.

Cut a piece of gold card and layer it with green card then place the parcel on the top to finish.
I cut the merry Christmas strip from the same traditional paper as the parcel and placed it underneath

Place the parcel at the top of the card about 1.5cm down and finished off with red metallic stars.

To make card C
A5 card in cream fold in half cut off 3.5cm off the front of the card. Cut the Merry Christmas from the traditional Christmas paper that goes vertical and attach with double sided tape.

Place a straight border down inside edge. On the front of the card make a border .5cm all the way round in gold peel offs.

Place a sentiment on the top and the parcel down the bottom.

Step seven
Place a greeting insert into the card; either from the computer or write you own.
The paper needs to be .5cm smaller than the card, put narrow double-sided tape on each side of the fold and place into card.
